It is easy to disregard how we talk to the ones closest to us and sometimes we need reminders—maybe in the form of giant growing plants—of how the small moments we share together truly impact us. From debut author-illustrator Gracey Zhang comes a whimsical picture book: LALA’S WORDS: A Story of Planting Kindness.
Oh, there goes Lala! She carries a pot of water around the corner, down the block, and over the fence, to a patch of dirt and concrete where tiny weeds sprout. Lala's wild nature and quiet compassion enchant in this evergreen story about the power of kind words and the magic of being loved for who you are. This story muses on how we can do better to examine the language we use and how we can create our own magic with words that have the power to nurture those around us.
GRACEY ZHANG is an illustrator and animator with a love of storytelling and verse. She was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, and received her degree in Illustration from RISD. Lala’s Words is her first picture book. You can visit her at graceyzhang.com.
PETER H. REYNOLDS, best-selling author-illustrator and proprietor of The Blue Bunny Bookstore, will be joining Gracey for a conversation about books, art and power of positive words.
A Zoom link for the event will be included in your email confirmation when you register.
