Meet Michael Sampson - long-time collaborator of Bill Martin Jr. (and co-author of the duo’s famous Chicka, Chicka, 1-2-3), as he celebrates the publication of their previously unpublished book Armadillo Antics. Come listen to Michael read these two amazing books at a pre-dinner storytime 5 p.m., followed by a conversation between Sampson and Peter H. Reynolds at 5:45 p.m.
Bill Martin Jr (Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?) lived just 100 yards apart from his best friend and co-author, Michael Sampson, in northeast Texas. They wrote Armadillo Antics “in honor of the fun, inquisitive creatures that roamed the woods” outside their houses. This book is an invaluable, previously unpublished work that holds special significance to the authors' ties to the lone star state. Michael Sampson is a born and raised Texan, and Bill Martin Jr decided to make his final roots there. The armadillo is the state animal of Texas, and, thus, makes the perfect tribute to their nostalgic collection.
